Sometimes we don't know what to do when people we love are going through a tough time. The Delicate Forest stamp set by Stampin' Up! includes sentiments for the cards we need when friends or family are having a hard time. Today's card features the sentiment "Hoping each passing day lets in a little more sunshine." I like how it is encouraging but in a very gentle way.
The Delicate Forest dies almost make the card themselves. I cut out three of the included scenery dies using Very Vanilla cardstock and layered them on the card front. I cut out a small circle to make a sun and used the blending brushes to create the sky.
Masking paper really helps to create the background sky. It is like post it notes but better! The entire backing of the paper have gentle adhesive that is easy to position and remove. You don't need to worry about brushing ink underneath the paper as it sticks down well. Fair warning - sometimes it sticks a little too well - I recommend sticking it to your pants and removing a couple times and then using. This will ensure that removing the masking paper doesn't leave any marks on the paper when you are done.
Ok I made write more later - for now - here is a printable step by step tutorial with measurements of how to make the card. Enjoy the supplies and the instructions.

- Very Vanilla (card base): 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”
- Very Vanilla: 2 pieces - 5 ¼” x 4” (1 stamped, 1 large die cut)
- Very Vanilla: 2 pieces 4” x 4 ¼” (smaller die cuts)
Stamping and Assembling:
- Fold the largest piece of Very Vanilla cardstock on the score line to create the card base.
- Die cut the background scenery die with Very Vanilla and the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine.
- Die cut both of the smaller scenery pieces with the curved edges with Very Vanilla and the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine
- Stamp approximately 1” from the bottom of the Very Vanilla piece with the foliage image using Pecan Pie ink.
- Cut a circle out of the masking paper with a punch, a die or scissors. Adhere on the left side of the stamped image as shown.
- Use the Blending Brushes and Pool Party ink to blend some colour surrounding the masked “sun”.
- With a small blending brush, add some Lemon Lolly ink closer to the sun.
- Use a large blending brush to add some Lost Lagoon ink toward the edges of the stamped layer.
- Carefully peel up and remove the masked sun.
- Adhere the 2 smaller die cut scene pieces to the bottom of the stamped image. Overlap the 2 pieces as desired.
- Use the Foam Adhesive Strips on the outside edges of the large, die cut scenery piece to adhere to the card front.
- Stamp the sentiment and the small tree stamp on the inside of the card.
